Designed by New England’s own Barry Buchanan, the Caribou is a modified Greenland design with a cult-like following from those who have paddled it. It has amazing initial stability and edge holding capabilities. Couple that with its wave catching powers and you have an amazing kayak that’s fast, nimble, and a pure joy to paddle.
The Caribou features a clean deck arrangement with flush hatches fore and aft. Recessed deck fittings accommodate full deck rigging and safety perimeter lines. The seat comes with a comfortably padded backband. The easy-to-enter cockpit is molded with padded thigh braces shaped to fit a wide range of paddler sizes. A skeg is standard on the Caribou and when deployed, allows this nimble craft to track harder when in adverse conditions.
